It is rare when extensive research has been compiled on the importance of the life of a NW Arkansas enslaved man. Aaron “Rock” Van Winkle proved to be a central cog in the wheel of success of what was once the largest sawmill in Arkansas owned by Peter Van Winkle and located on what is now Hobbs State Park. Jerry Moore and Chris Huggard, professors from Northwest Arkansas Community College, have investigated this beloved man and his work at the Van Winkle mill. Please join them as they share insight in this man’s life. Meet in the Visitor Center classrooms. COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES ARE IN EFFECT FOR GUEST AND STAFF SAFETY. SPACE MAY BE LIMITED.
